Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Maxine Huval, 70, who passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her residence.

A visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Saturday, February 24, 2023, from 8 a.m. until time of service.

A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Father Greg Cormier officiated at the Funeral Mass and the Concelebrant was Deacon Ken Soignier. Readers were Shawne Taylor and Ricky Huval. Gift bearers were Natalie Guidry and Riley Guidry.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

Maxine was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1970, which throughout her 12 years of school in Cecilia, she made straight A’s on all of her report cards.

She was a lifelong and devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church; her faith gave her strength throughout her life. Maxine touched the lives of not only her daughter, Monique, but she was also selflessly devoted to her grandchildren, Orie and Jenna, who brought her immense joy.

As a pastime, she enjoyed reading and traveling to her favorite place, Disney World, and family reunions always brought her great joy and happiness. Maxine will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her grandson, Orie Savant; granddaughter, Jenna Savant (Jonas); her sisters, Ginger Huval and Dixie Poche; nieces, Natalie Guidry (Jared) and Renee Poche; nephews, Roby Poche (Raylin) and Andre Huval (Tori); In-laws, Harry and Aimee Huval; sister-in-law, Cindy Huval; godmother, Lou Ella Huval; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Genevieve Huval; husband, Michael Huval; and her daughter, Monique Huval.

Pallbearers were Tony Huval, Andre Huval, Orie Savant, Snapper Dore, Jonas Angelle and Carroll Huval.

Honorary pallbearers were Roby Poche, Jared Guidry and Darrell Huval.

Special thanks to her colleagues, David, Madeline, Greg and Phyllis for all the laughs and special times shared with Maxine. Thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and the generosity of family and friends who provided comfort and prayers during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Mass intentions be made in Maxine’s honor.
