St. Martinville – Services were conducted for Mr. Clarence Stewart Sr., 86, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Father Michael Sucharski, SVD, officiating.
Interment was in the Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation was from 7 a.m. until time of services.
A native and lifelong resident of St. Martinville, Louisiana, he passed on December 8, 2018, in New Iberia, Louisiana.
He worked for Breaux’s Bay Craft for 35 years and was a Chief for Chevron for seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Melvina Wiltz Stewart; two sons, Anthony Stewart (Sarah) and Clarence Stewart Jr. (Espenittia); two daughters, Elizabeth Savoy (Brownell Savoy Sr.) and Precious Armstead (Neil);
two brothers-in-law, Warren Malveaux and Jimmy Davis; a sister-in-law, Barbara Stewart; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Alcide Stewart and Agnes Ledet Stewart; two sisters, Mary Janny Davis and Cecelia Malveaux; four brothers, Walton Stewart Sr., Nelson Stewart, Ernest Stewart and Wilfred Stewart.
Pallbearers were Brownell Savoy Jr., Clarence Stewart Jr., Jaylon Stewart, Nelson Stewart, Arthur James Jr. and Lincoln Wiltz Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Stewart, Brownell Savoy Sr., Windle Savoy, Wilbert Stewart Sr., Edward Stewart and Walter Stewart Jr.
The Golden Meadows Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
