Coteau Holmes – Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Elie Smith, the former Brenda Boutte, 62, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Church. Brother Jerod Robin will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service time. A native and resident of Coteau Holmes, Brenda passed away in her home on the morning of October 21, 2019. Born on January 13, 1957, to the late Alcibiade and Esther Bonin Boutte, Brenda was one of ten children. She was a kind and carefree woman who put family first. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a passion. They were her everything. Brenda was member of Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Church and was devout in her faith. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and could often be found fishing in the basin or at their camp with family. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Elie Smith Sr. of Coteau Holmes; children, Elie Smith Jr. and wife Tiffany, Donny Smith and wife Lacey, and Amanda Smith and fiancé Jason Richard Sr., all of Coteau Holmes; brothers, Louis Boutte and wife Angel of St. Martinville and Ronald Boutte of Coteau Holmes; sisters, Terry Hayes and husband Shelton Sr. of St. Martinville and Sylvia Smith and husband Milton, both of Coteau Holmes; grandchildren, Colby Smith, Owen Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Alexis Smith and fiancé Justin Lege, Donny Smith Jr., Gavin Smith, Kole Smith, Peyton Smith, Karter Smith, Damon Horton, Triston Horton, Rylan Horton, Jason Richard Jr., Jaidyn Richard and Destiny Richard; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie Lege, Ellie Lege and Declan Reed. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Errol Boutte and Donald Boutte; and sisters, Monica Boutte, Gail Patin and Gloria Johnson. Pallbearers will be Donny Smith Jr., Damon Horton, Colby Smith, Owen Smith, Jason Richard Sr., Gavin Smith and Justin Lege.
