Phil was a graduate of Cecilia High School in 1967 and a graduate of McNeese State University in 1970 where she graduated in education. She was a school teacher for 40-plus years while teaching 4th and 5th grade in St. Martinville and was a 4-H leader for over 30 years. Teaching was something she valued and wanted to make sure her students were always prepared to go forward.
Phil was a great wife, sister and daughter who was always doing for others and never asked for anything in return. She found joy in the simple things in life and was so appreciative for anything given to her. Her God, family and friends were all very important to her. Phil woke up early every morning to say her prayers and was an inspiration to each of us. Her great joy was being a caregiver for her father. Phil considered her nieces and nephews as her children, of whom will deeply miss their Aunt Phil. The family would like to express their appreciation to her friends, especially Sue, Gerri, Katie, Mary Jude, and Georgie for their love and support. She will be remembered for her loving heart and giving spirit.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 46 years, “who was her whole life” Michael Biglane of New Iberia, La.; stepson, Tim Biglane and spouse Crystal of Prairieville, La.; brothers, Larry Guilbeau and wife Vicki of Cecilia, La., and David Guilbeau and wife Karin of Lafayette, La.; twin sister and best friend, Frances Duplechien and spouse James of Cecilia, La.; sister, Kim Kirby and husband Lyle of Mandeville, La.; step grandson, Alex Biglane and fiancée Jeneé Esquivel of Prairieville, La.; brother-in-law, Robert Biglane and wife Julie of Natchez, Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, C. D. Guilbeau; and her mother, Melrose Hollier Guilbeau.
Pallbearers were Larry Guilbeau, Todd Guilbeau, Grant Guilbeau, Gavin Guilbeau, Tim Biglane, Alex Biglane and David Guilbeau.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
