St. Martinville – A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019, at Disciples of Christ Jesus Church in St. Martinville for Raphael “Hayes” Charles Jr., 86, who passed away at his home in Galveston, Texas. Pastor Byron Hypolite will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to attend a reception immediately following the service. Raphael is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, Christine Charles Jackson, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Corinne (Thibodeaux) Charles Sr.; three brothers, Felix, Earl and Roy; and four sisters, Mary Charles, Louise Bienvenu, Mildred C. Kately and Julia Davis.
