Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Cherie Ann Alexandrescu, 50, who passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. Visiting hours were observed at Dion Hall in Catahoula from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continued on Thursday from 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A rosary was be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Rev. Nicholas DuPré officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Ana Alexandrescu, Jenna Courville and Kayla Garritt. Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula. Cherie was a member of the National Kidney Foundation and gave her heart and soul to this organization for many years. During her membership time they created their own local group which was called the “Wrong Chic Clique Group.” Cherie enjoyed cooking, taking vacations, visiting with her family and friends, and attending football games to support her daughter, who was a cheerleader. She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Auras Marcel Alexandrescu; daughter, Ana Alexandrescu of Catahoula; parents, Marshall and Patsy Bourque Blanchard; brother, Bart Blanchard of Breaux Bridge; nephew, Andrew Blanchard; and niece, Lilly Blanchard. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Olden and Bernice Blanchard; and maternal grandparents, Percy and Emma Lou Bourque. Pallbearers were Kirk Barras, Shannon Barras, Trevor Huval, Tim Huval, Brock Suire and Dillion Suire. Honorary pallbearers were Bart Blanchard and Cory Blanchard.
