Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Ulysses Batiste Jr., 63, who passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019. Interment followed at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. He is survived by his father, Ulysses Batiste Sr.; sons, Tyrone and Keith Matthews; daughters, Tamisha and Julia Matthews, and Chantelle Prejean; step daughter, Rashawnda Prejean; step son, Lennis Prejean; brothers, Herbert, Jimmy, Robert, Richard and David Batiste; sisters, Shelia Batiste and Roxanne Celestine; step sisters, Elizabeth Celestine, Stacey Barras and Beverly Williams; step brothers, Kenneth Williams and Ulysses Barras; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vedia M. Batiste; brother, Randy Batiste; and stepsister, Betty Williams. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
