Breaux Bridge – A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 for Charles J. Douet, 71, who passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Charles was in law enforcement for 28½ years and belonged to the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, Masonic Lodge and C&S Hunting Club. He will be remembered for his dedication to law enforcement and the people he served in his community. He is survived by his loving spouse, Brenda Blanchard Douet; daughter, Rachelle Gallet and husband Gregory of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Glenn Charles Gallet and spouse Paige, Lyle Galllet and Jacob Gallet; and great-grandchild, Adelyn Gallet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Yola Douet; and his sisters, Doris Guidry and Elsie Stelly; brother-in-law, Edward Guidry; and in-laws, Garland “T-Neg” and Gloria Blanchard. Pallbearers were Glenn Gallet, Lyle Gallet, Jacob Gallet, Lance Blanchard, Dannah Blanchard and David Stelly. Honorary pallbearers were Glenn G. Gallet, Wilson Stelly Jr., John Broadbent, Jude Stelly, Brian Blanchard, Keith Blanchard, Bert Blanchard and great nieces and nephews.
