ecilia – A Private burial will be held for Chester J. Berard, 92, who passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Opelousas General Hospital. Mr. Berard enjoyed life to the fullest. He especially enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with folks at Diesi’s Little Capitol in Henderson. His most cherished moments were spending time with the people he loved the most; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Laida Thomassee Berard; son, Joseph “Wayne” Berard and wife Patricia; daughter, Cheryl Robin, all of Cecilia; grandchildren, Shawn Robin of Cecilia, Rusty Berard and wife Kelly of Breaux Bridge and Jade Doucet and husband Greg of Carencro; and his six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bella Berard; brothers, William, Bennett, Dewey, George and Maurice Berard; and two sisters, Theresa Champagne and Pauline Savoy. Mr. Berard’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of J.
