Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Gerald Robert, 73, who passed away on May 13, 2018, at his residence. Father Gary Schexnayder was the Celebrant of the funeral Mass. Morgan Verret and Kari Harrington were the lectors; Laura and Adrian Barras were the gift bearers. Interment followed the mass in St. Bernard Cemetery. Survivors include his sister, Estelle Robert of Catahoula; sister-in-law, Anna Landry Robert of Breaux Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anita and Randall Robert; one brother, Harold Robert; and one sister, Mattie Simon. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge. He was employed with Fugro Chance for more than 30 years. Pallbearers were Atlas Harrington, Ferril Verret, Vernon Verret, Shane Verret, Logan Verret and Mervin Barras. The family requests that visitation be held Tuesday, May 15 from 1 to 9 p.m., and resume Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until services. A rosary was led by Sister Doris Roy at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
