St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for John Edward Pierre, 66, who passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at St. Martin Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
John was born on December 17,1952, in Lafayette. John was an outdoorsman who enjoyed country living. He enjoyed his horses, drinking Corona, and playing with his toys – his motorcycle and Corvette. He was a member of True Friend Hall Club, Golf 8 Club, and the Southern University Quarterback Club. John will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gretta Bourda Pierre; daughters, Cherie Miller (Derrick) and Nicole Antoine (Dynell); sisters, Mary Louise Pierre and Vickie Joseph (Melvin J.); grandchildren, Tia Miller, Asia Miller, Austin Antoine and Kendall Antoine; and his sisters-in-law, Florina Pierre and Donnica Pierre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Pierre Jr. and Melonie Provost Pierre; and his brothers, Rickey Pierre and Perry Pierre.
