MaryLynn Chauffe Guillory Hebert

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for MaryLynn Chauffe Guillory Hebert, 79, who passed away at The Calcutta House in Lafayette.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continue on Saturday from 88 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Juliana Hinton and Pilar Ricker. Gift bearers Désirée Guillory and Annabell Ricker.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1.

MaryLynn Chauffe Guillory Hebert was born September 10, 1943, in Lafayette. She worked as an educator in special education in Puerto Rico, Houston ISD, and retired from the Lafayette Parish School System after many years.

MaryLynn was immensely involved in her community. She was a board member of the Bed and Breakfast Association, founding member and president of Friends of Lake Martin, Breaux Bridge Historical Society, Lake Martin Advisory Council, active member of the Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Bayou Teche Visitors Center.

MaryLynn was passionate about historical preservation and restoration. She was an accomplished musician and played the piano, violin, and accordion. She was devoted to activism and an advocate for special needs children and adults. One her favorite holiday activities was playing Mrs. Claus and reading to the children in Breaux Bridge. 

In her spare time, she enjoyed live music, traveling, all outdoor activities, and most importantly, hosting family events and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by daughter, Debora Sue Melancon Savoy (Jean Marie Myers); son, Jacob “Mike” Michael Guillory (Chunying Li); grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Melancon Haynes, Jennifer Melancon Perkins, Stephanie Melancon Krugh, Emilie Lynn Guillory, Lauren Guillory Mize; step grandson, SiTong Guo; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, John Allen Chauffe (Bobbye).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Michael Guillory; mother, Ruth Thompson Duhon; and father, Edward Lynn Chauffe.

Pallbearers will be Philip Ortiz, Kenny Guillory, Charlie Raider, Danny Guillory, Brad Perkins, Kyle Krugh and Phillip Haynes.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Ricker, Zachary Ricker, John Chauffe and Benjamin Hernandez.
