Melissa Marie Perrodin Thomas

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Melissa Marie Perrodin Thomas, 61, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church  with Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ, Celebrant, officiating.

Interment followed in Saint Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Visitation hours were observed at Fletcher Funeral Home in New Iberia) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary was recited at 9 a.m.

A native of Saint Martinville and resident of Breaux Bridge, she transitioned at 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics in Lafayette.

Melissa Marie Perrodin Thomas was born on October 24, 1961, in Lafayette. She was raised in Saint Martinville in a big and loving family. Melissa was a 1979 graduate of Saint Martinville Senior High School. She spent most of her adult years in Breaux Bridge, where she and her husband raised their family. 

She recently retired from Walmart after 20 years of service. Immediately after high school, she worked for many years at Martin Mills in Saint Martinville.

Melissa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In her young adult life, Melissa enjoyed being an amazing support system to her beloved husband Elvis, as he traveled throughout Louisiana and Texas with his baseball team. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a gourmet cook, and everyone raved about her food, especially her red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, and potato salad. Her other favorite hobbies were reading and going to the casino.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her three daughters, Kendria Marie Thomas of Monroe, Megan Renee Thomas of Lafayette and Skylar Faye Thomas of Carencro; six grandchildren: Kameryn Renee Wiltz, Keyan Ray Wiltz, Triston Demond Thomas, Ilan Sky Richardson, Kash Cadien Thomas and Truly Chanel Senegal; her mother-in-law, Theresa Thomas of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, Jason Peridon (Aline) of Benton, L., Rodney Perrodin (Ledi) of Killeen, Texas, and Kent Perrodin of Loreauville; eight sisters, Vanessa Perrodin of St Martinville, Jennifer Perrodin Ponton of Beaumont, Texas, Maggie Collins (Melvin) of New Orleans, Mathilda Perrodin of Arlington, Texas, Melinda Perrodin of Loreauville, Margaret Daigle of Lafayette, Patricia Cook (Lee) of Arlington, Texas, and Linda Mallery (Davis) of Denver, Colo.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elvis Thomas; her parents, Mathilda Antoine Perrodin and Adam Perrodin; her birth mother, Etalia Auzenne; two brothers, Glenn Dell Perrodin and Milfin Simiena Perrodin; and one brother-in-law, Freddie Daigle.

Active pallbearers were Keyan Ray Wiltz, Courtney Perrodin, Keyvin Perrodin, Davis Mallery, Lee Cook and Rodney Perrodin. 

Honorary pallbearers were Triston Demond Thomas, Traelon Lewis, Bryant Cook, Elijah Mallery, Brandon Boyd, Fred Daigle and Joshua Mallery.
