Rick Michael Picard

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Rick Michael Picard, 58, who passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass on Thursday. Scriptures will be read by Joey Picard. Gift bearers will be Jennifer Angelle and Michelle Picard. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
In the short 58 years Rick was here on earth he accomplished many things in life. He started out in his parent’s business, Picard’s Auto, at the age of six. From his many experiences in the shop he quickly became a master mechanic. Not only did he have knowledge with automobiles, but with airboats, race cars, and marine engines.
Rick enjoyed driving airboats and race cars, flying small engine planes, including competitive aerobatic flying and race horses. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, and hanging out at the landing.
Rick was the owner of Rick’s Auto and Truck Repair and Rick Picard, LLC, which was his last venture in heavy equipment and dirt work.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heart of Hospice and Dr. Chancelor Donald for their wonderful care and compassion. And the family would also like to thank his lifelong friend, Elliot Trosclair for always being there when needed.
Rick will be remembered for his kind heart and his willingness to help others.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 8 years, Lisa Guidry Picard; mother, Irene Friedman Picard; stepchildren, Jackie Nicole Prudhomme and spouse Kyle, Bryce Martin Andrepont and spouse Konnie; his furry baby, Buddy Luke Picard; brother, Larry Picard and wife Millie; sisters, Tavia Hudi and husband Tony, Nicole Picard Blanchard and husband Tommy; six step-grandchildren, Leah Kibodeaux, Blaine Theriot, Ella Mae Prudhomme, Jayden Andrepont, Carter Andrepont, and Gabriel Andrepont.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Picard.
Pallbearers will be Tony Hudi, Tommy Blanchard, Elliot Trosclair, Tucker Friedman, Frosty Edgar, and Larry “Blue” Pommier.
