Charles Richard Gutekunst

Charles Richard Gutekunst, 72, of Fort Myers, Fla. since 1989, formerly of Baton Rouge, La., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Boca Raton, Fla. 

He was born October 17, 1950, in St. Martinville, La. to the late Octave and Maude Escott (nee Robinson) Gutekunst. Charlie was one of nine children in the Gutekunst family. With a big family in Louisiana, they had many great reunions with crawfish boils and lots of great memories while vacationing in Navarre, Fla. He also enjoyed great times at Zydeco and Cajun music festivals with good friends! 

Lennet G. Castex

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial Service will be held on April 22 at Pellerin Funeral Home for Lennet Garland Castex, 78, who died on April 15, 2023.

Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Anna Simon Castex; daughter, Nina (Edmond) Judice; sister, Sue (Larry) Thibodeaux; and one grandson. 

 

Renella Pelafigue

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 22 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Renella Pelafigue 92, who died on April 16, 2023. 

  Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. 

She is survived by her daughters, Denise (George) Mestayer and Arlene (Dale) Theriot; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lorita Price JeanBaptiste

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lorita P. JeanBaptiste, 84, the former Lorita Price, was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 14, ,2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Sucharski, S.V.D., Celebrant, officiating.

Entombment was at Queen of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum (Francis Loop) in St. Martinville. 

Visitation hours were observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Friday, April 14, 2023, with a rosary to be recited at 12 noon.

Vivian Melancon Guidry

Vivian Melancon Guidry, 95,  passed away on April 10th, 2023, at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Breaux Bridge, La. 

There will be no service or memorial as per her final wishes. She charitably donated her body to science. 

A native and resident of Nina, La, Vivian was born on August 1st, 1927, to the late Armond and Terzile Melancon.  She owned and operated a gas station in Breaux Bridge for many years with husband Clarence. Later, they had Vivian’s Grocery on Grand Point until retirement.
